How it's different

Compared with Nightbot, StreamElements and WizeBot, which run on their companies' servers.

Those bots stay in your chat when your PC is off; FQPN's Chat Bot runs while the app is open, which is usually the PC you stream from. By default they talk as their own bot account; some offer a custom bot name. Nightbot, StreamElements and WizeBot belong to their owners, and how they work can change.

Install in a minute

  1. Download the installer above.
  2. Run it. If Windows shows “Windows protected your PC”, click More info, then Run anyway.
  3. Open FQPN's Chat Bot and connect Twitch: enter the short code on Twitch and click Authorize.
  4. Done. The app updates itself when a new version comes out, and your settings always stay.
Why does Windows warn me?

The installer isn't digitally signed yet: an application for free code signing is waiting. The app is open source, and every installer is built on GitHub from the public code.

Questions

Is it free?

Yes. It's free and open source (MIT license).

Does the bot work when my PC is off?

No. It runs on your PC, so it's in your chat while the app is open. It can start with Windows and wait in the tray.

Is my Twitch login safe?

Your login stays on your PC, in %APPDATA%\TwitchChatBot. It is never uploaded.

What does the app send?

Once a day, your Twitch channel name and the app version, so the developers know who uses it. Never your replies, chat, viewers, settings or passwords. For the public command list (on from the start, you can switch it off), the names of your commands and who can use them.

Windows says “An Application Control policy has blocked this file”.

That's Smart App Control, which blocks programs that aren't signed yet. You can turn it off in Windows Security > App & browser control, or wait until the installer is signed.

How do I update?

The app finds new versions by itself and offers Restart and update. You can also run the newest installer from this page: it updates in place.
